Antifouling Oceoprotec©

The Oceoprotec© antifouling is a 2 components epoxy resin, free of solvent and chemical biocide. The benefits of this coating are diverse :

  • Long lasting antifouling solution : the efficiency is guaranteed for 5 years.

  • Exceptional hydrodynamic qualities : the hardened Oceoprotec© coating looks like a smooth, varnished surface. The extremely low rate of friction in the water allows the boat to perform well, thanks to exceptional hydrodynamic qualities. Boats treated with Oceoprotec© can rest indifferently in or out of the water without affecting the effectiveness of the antifouling.
  • Prevention function against osmosis  : Oceoprimer© and Oceoprotec© ensure an effective barrier against the infiltrations of humidity .
  • Smooth antifouling  : Free from any harmful chemical biocides for humans and the marine environment, the Oceoprotec antifouling coating only requires a manual cleaning (with a non abrasive sponge or a water jet) of the biofilm deposited on the hull. This cleaning process is useless if the boat regularly sails at more than 10 knots. If the boat is anchored all the year round, it is recommended to clean it in Spring (April – May) and in Autumn (September – October). Sanding maintenance is not necessary .
  • Important savings  : by avoiding annual or bi-annual hull maintenance, the owner makes important savings. Furthermore, water glide performance allows a fuel reduction from 9 to 25%.

The Oceoprotec© coating is guaranteed for 5 years. This warranty concerns not only the effectiveness of the antifouling effect but also the integrity of the covering.

Application for brand new boats :

List of task performed :

  • Protection of the boat : metal parts as well as boat deck are well protected using plastic film and a specifically designed protective cocoon.
  • Removal of all moulding wax particles on the gel coat : this process is carried out with the help of chemical wax removers recommanded by the boat manufacturer.
  • Light sanding to create a rough surface increasing primer adherence.
  • Oceoprimaire© application.
  • Oceoprotec© application. There are two levels of care :
  • Premium Care : sanding and polishing with a grain of about 300. The gliding performance of the boat as well as the consumption of fuel are drastically improved.
  • Performance Care : sanding and polishing to a grain over 600. Ideal for demanding regators or motor boats owners searching for optimal hydrodynamic performance.

Application for boats in use

List of tasks performed :

  • Electrical control.
  • Sand blasting of antifouling crusts : this process consists of taking off all the antifouling coats until reaching the gel-coat or the anti-osmosis layer.
  • Surface preparation : once cleaned, the hull will be inspected and all the possible work of filling the damage will be carried out in order to start with an homogeneous and healthy surface. A sanding to the grain of 120 finalises this stage so that the surface can be ready for a good adherence.
  • Boat protection: the metal part as well as the upper part of the boat are protected with a plastic film and the protection module.
  • Oceoprimaire© application.
  • Oceoprotec© application : This step requires the use of a specially engineered equipment that supports the viscosity of the Oceoprotec©.

There are two levels of care :

  • Premium Care : sanding and polishing with a grain of about 300. The glide performance of the boat as well as the consumption of fuel are drastically improved.
  • Performance Care : sanding and polishing with a grain over 600. Ideal for demanding regators or motor boats owners searching for optimal hydrodynamic performance.

Application for steel boats

A steel boat requires a special hull protection allowing :

  • To heal possible damages on the steel surface.

  • To avoid galvanic exchanges between the steel and the Oceoprotec© coating.

List of tasks performed :

  • The assistance of an expert maritime consultant to validate that your boat complies to the standards of the Oceoprotec© application.
  • Sand blasting of the antifouling crusts.
  • The protection of the steel : before using Oceoprotec antifouling on steel boats, a protection coating against corrosion is systematically applied. This zinc based paint is called "sacrificial". In the case of damage on the hull, the zinc of the sacrificial paint will cautirise the corrosion on the steel by a galvanising exchange.
  • Insulation of the steel : the sacrificial paint is isolated by Oceoprotec© using a 250 micrometres thick insulating epoxy film.
  • Oceoprimaire© application.
  • Oceoprotec© application. This step requires the use of a specially engineered equipment that supports the viscosity of the Oceoprotec© antifouling.

Application for regularly run around boats

Some boats are subjected to the constraints of being run aground or shocks. To protect the hull, we propose to re-coat the exposed surfaces with a cuprous-nickel based coating, giving the treated surface an exceptional hardness, outstanding resistance to shocks or repeated mechanical friction. Moreover, the cuprous-nickel based coating perform a permanent antifouling function.
