Anti-corrosion treatment

We have stated that it is not possible to benefit from a performing and healthy hull without protecting the boat from corrosion, and without giving great care to keels and rudders.

Our services

Besides electrical control that we systematically carry out before each application, the Oceoprotec© applicator will propose a serie of jobs that can be accurately estimated on after a complete hull inspection.

  • Electrical control :

    Why ?
In the water, your boat lives in a permanent electrical field. Whatever your boat material is (aluminium, steel, polyester, carbon or wood), the hull is subject to potential corrosive electrical exchanges. Furthermore, as the electrical installation evolves and ages, it is important to know the level of insulation of your boat with regards to all kinds of corrosion phenomena.

    Our job :
Unveil any galvanic or electrolytic corrosion. Establish a detailed statement including recommendations.

  • Installation of a galvanic insulator

    Why?
According to the Europeans standards, all plug connectors must be connected. It represents a potential risk for any boat that is connected to an electrical circuit in a harbour. Indeed, if metallic parts of the boat- even in polyster (anodes, z- drive, shaft, propellor, metal sea cock) are connected to the ground, all metals at the bottom of the galvanic ladder will act as anodes . For example, the steel made pilar fixing catways will be the cathode in that case.

    Our job :
Installation of a galvanic insulator to isolate the metal mass of the boat from the groundponton and remain compliant with the EN ISO 13 297 standard. It is thanks to this system that we are able to protect you from power surges and to have your boat totally isolated from the electronic currents.

  • Changing the sea cocks

    Why ?
All metallic pieces underneath the waterline participate in potential galvanic exchanges. The smaller the number of metallic pieces, the safer the hull will be and the easiest maintenance will remain.

    Our job :
Dismantle the old sea cock and install the reinforced polymer sea cock. We use an epoxy resin and waterproof it with Sika.

  • Optimisation of the hydrodynamic performance of the hull

    Why ?
The rear incidence angle of the keel, of the rudder blade, or the space between the keel and the hull are factors able to reduce the speed. It is the same thing with the sail-drive, jointed with a rubber.

    Our job :
Filling of the keel and of the function between the keel and the hull with a putty and an epoxy. Clogging of the rubber joint on the sail-drive in order to obtain an homogenous surface.

  • The repair of the gel-coat of the hull

    Why ?
The coating, which is a low-friction one, requires a surface without damage and with an homogenous roughness index. We have to be sure that the gel-coat is in a good condition and unable to damage the quality of the Oceoprotec© product.

    Our job :
Filling and clogging of the gel-coat with solvent free epoxys and putties. Preparation of an adherence surface for the application of Oceoprimer©.
